Hello from Ft. Providence, NWT! Ft. Providence is a hamlet of about 835 friendly people who find it their pleasure to live alongside one of the most powerful rivers in Canada , The McKenzie river. The view is fresh and so is the air. The retirement home here for the elders shows a sign, translated to English depicts these people to be "People of the river". The river is indeed huge and carries many to their traditional fishing and hunting camps.

The church here is known as New Life Community Church, there is a core group of people of nine adults and ten children. These people New Life Community Churchfaithfully meet to hear God's Word and sing their favourite hymns and choruses. In this service and a midweek Bible study we have access to meet to talk about our God. Also there is a thrift shop the ladies get ready weekly for those who come to look for things to wear. People from town bring things to recycle and churches from the warm south (i.e. Edmonton) send up clothes with those traveling here for holidays or fishing trips.

The main ministry here so far is the Sunday service, Sunday school and Bible study. Also, there is the thrift shop complete with Christian videos and coffee/cookies. People from town and people from other places south supply the thrift shop with the goods used to bless families in need. Visits in homes and people asking for prayer complete the ministry offered so far. Please pray that the gospel will present the Hope God means to offer in Christ.
